There is something magical about summer at Pine Terrace Resort.
Maybe it's the sound of laughter drifting across the beach, the excitement of a bobber disappearing beneath the dock, or the way kids collapse into bed each night completely exhausted from a day filled with adventure. Whatever it is, we're seeing it every day this summer, and we absolutely love it.
From sunrise to sunset, kids are making the most of every minute. You'll find them lined up along the docks catching fish after fish, proudly running back to show Mom and Dad their latest catch. Others spend hours building sandcastles, exploring the playground, or challenging new friends to a round of mini golf at Looney Links.
Out on the water, the fun never seems to stop. Kids launch themselves skyward on the water trampoline, race their uncles across the lily pad, splash in the shallows with Grandma, and spend entire afternoons soaking up the freedom that only summer vacation can provide.
We (Kaleb and Jenna) have gotten the most laughs in the resort store. Witnessing the little taste of freedom for kids in the resort store is hilarious.
For some kids, it's their first taste of independence. Mom and Dad can give us the green light to let them charge treats and treasures to the cabin account, or they arrive armed with a handful of coins and a carefully managed vacation budget. Then the serious decision-making begins.
Should they choose an ice cream treat? A Pixy Stix? A new stuffed animal best friend? Or perhaps a rubber snake perfect for startling a sibling? The choices are endless, and decisions are serious business. We love watching kids count their coins, pace the aisles, energetically debate their options, and proudly make their own purchases.
Family traditions are alive and well at Pine Terrace, too.Families are sporting matching Pine Terrace Cabin Crew t-shirts, competing in annual fishing tournaments with trophies and year-long bragging rights on the line, and even running family marathons that start and finish at the resort entrance. Every family seems to bring their own traditions—and many create new ones while they're here.

Kids spend their days catching both fish and frogs along the shoreline and docks, searching for worms after a rain, exploring the beach, and hiking through the woods. The Bobber Trail has become a favorite activity this summer, encouraging even reluctant hikers to head down the trail in search of all 20 hidden fishing bobbers. Before they know it, they've completed a hike, discovered the woods, and are asking to do it all over again.
And while the kids are busy exploring, nature often joins the fun. Bald eagles soar overhead, loons call across the lake, swans cruise by with their cygnets in tow, and curious deer occasionally wander through the resort. One especially adorable little fawn may have sampled one of our flower pots this summer—but thankfully left the rest alone.
Back at the resort, families gather for ping pong matches, carpet ball tournaments, outdoor tic-tac-toe games, checkers competitions, beach days, campfires, and one more s'more before bed.
And that's when the best part happens.
The kids who spent all day running, swimming, fishing, exploring, laughing, and playing finally slow down. They curl up next to Mom and Dad around the fire, sticky from marshmallows and tired from adventure. Within minutes, they're fast asleep, dreaming about what they'll do tomorrow.
These are the moments that make family vacations special. The memories that become stories. The traditions that bring families back year after year.
At Pine Terrace Resort, we're honored to be a small part of your family's story. We can't wait to help create your next week of adventure, laughter, campfires, fishing, family traditions, and lifelong memories.
After all, summer is meant for dirty feet and wild hair - catching fish, chasing frogs, staying up too late, and just being a kid.
